Yoga is a popular fitness past time for many. This research looked at the physical intensity of different yoga poses and classes and compared it to the ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) and AHA (American Heart Association) guidelines for recommended physical activity.

Yoga is predominantly deemed light intensity activity, which falls short of the 30 minutes per day of medium intensity activity recommended by the ACSM and AHA. But there are other potential benefits of yoga including, flexibility, balance and stress reduction.
